TEHO Winery

9 years ago Alejandro Sejanovich and Jeff Mausbach began to elaborate their first two wines (Zaha Malbec and Teho Malbec), inspired by the desire to reflect the characteristics of their Toko and Tomal vineyards.

Toko and Tomal are located in Paraje Altamira and La Consulta respectively in the Uco Valley, Zaha means heart and Teho means blood of the earth in the Huarpe language.

Thus was born the Teho winery, today we have a portfolio that increases with each harvest, thanks to the export of several micro lands in Mendoza.

TEHO Malbec Tomal Vineyard

Malbec

Vineyard: Tomal. Planted 75 years ago in La Consulta, department of San Carlos, Valle de Uco.

Field Blend: Due to the antiquity of this vineyard, malbec is mixed with other types of vineyards. This wine is the result of various co-fermentations of all varieties are present in Tomal.

Yield: very low, from 3 to 4 clusters per plant. Three plants are required to produce one bottle. TeHo, meaning "blood from earth" in Huarpe lenguage, refers to the concentration of the production of the vineyard in La Consulta.

In this wine, we practice a micro viticulture to isolate each soil profile and handle it individually. Each soil structure was harvested separately, at its best age, so that they show their deeper characteristics.

The first stage is collided in early April, collecting the head of the row where we find sandy soils. Here we obtain a floral profile with a well-defined acidity, this co-fermentation adds concentration and structure to the formula.

Soon, we proceeded to work the second lot, a zone of white stone, with limo and concretions of limestone. Here the mineral character of the fruit is emphasized and a great concentration, solidity of flavor and aromas. Here, only Malbec is harvested without co-fermenting with other varieties.

Now the third part is made, where there is a silty profile of soil, shallow, mixed with stones. We would already be in the middle of the third week of April, obtaining in this point of harvest a scheme of black fruit aromas, and of concentrated palate. This co-fermentation rounds and arms the final wine, giving structure and fine-grained tannins.

We finished the process of harvest 4 lot, with a composition of purely limestone soil. With this micro-fermentation we can reach the intensity of color and concentration with a high minerality and join it again through co-fermentation with 5% of the part of the row containing a attractive note of black and violet fruits.
